Steve: "Greg Hit The Same Shot In Training Yesterday!"

7 March 2015

Crewe boss Steve Davis gives us his post match reaction following 2-0 win

Steve Davis was pleased that his side picked up three important points against Scunthorpe United to take us seven points clear of the drop zone. Two great goals from Greg Leigh and Marcus Haber in the second half secured a third win out of the last four matches at Gresty Road and boss Davis was delighted.

Following the 2-0 win, Steve told the club's official web-site: "It is a massive three points off of the games we have had. Tuesday night was a disappointed but they have responded in the right way and I'm delighted they have bounced back from that.

"It shows we have that spirit and resilient. It wasn't a classic but it was a hard fought game and one we had to win I felt because we have some tough games coming up. They are a tough side and they are close to us in the league so it was a tough game, so I'm glad to get through it.

"Greg's goal changed the complexion of the game because it could have been 0-0. At half-time it was important to go in at 0-0 and jig a few things around. We started the second half really well and we got the goals in that spell when we dominated. We saw it through well.

"The goals lifted everyone and Greg's strike seemed to wake everyone up. The goal gave everyone a lift. It was one of those roof lifting moment. He actually did that in training on Friday and ran off and I thought fair enough lets see if you can do it again and he has done it in the game. It was exactly the same. If we can get him further forward doing that then that that would be terrific. If he can add goals and assists to his game then that would be fantastic for him and us.

"Marcus had that desire at the far post. We wanted him to be stronger and braver and he has got right in on top of the defender to get his goal. That is where he had got to get to, to get his goals. He has got to be that man at the far post because he has got a good leap and can get on the end of things."
