Steve targets three home points to try and move further away from the bottom places

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis says he would sacrifice a top performance for three points tomorrow. The Alex boss points to our meeting with Scunthorpe in December as the perfect example of his side getting nothing from a game when the overall performance merited at least a point.

Crewe produced arguably one of their best away performances of the season at Glanford Park but left empty handed after slipping to an undeserved 2-1 defeat.

Ahead of the return game at Gresty Road, boss Steve Davis said: “I think we would settle for the three points tomorrow over performance. Of course, we would like both but the most important thing is to try and win the game.

“If it is good enough for Manchester United then it is good enough for us. They are being criticised for not playing with enough flair but they are winning games and have been on a great run.

“Of course, Manchester United have fantastic players as well but it is sometimes necessary not to play well and win. We played really well against Scunthorpe and were unfortunate not to get anything on the day.

of the pitch. rd“We ended up losing 2-1 and it was frustrating. The players know they have to work hard, and hopefully our skill will come to the fore. We need to find a way to win games again on a consistent basis and become more dangerous in the last 3

He added: “Our home form has been consistently good. We have lost just one in our last ten games at home so we want that record to continue tomorrow, especially against a team that is around us in the league.”
