Ray: "We Have To Grind Out Some Results"

4 March 2015

Ray says it is back to basics as Alex look to get back on track after heavy Rochdale defeat

Alex defender George Ray believes that the squad is good enough to avoid being dragged back into the bottom four after working extremely hard to get ourselves out of it following a poor start to the season.

Crewe suffered their third successive away defeat at Rochdale last night just days after holding promotion candidates Swindon Town three days previously. Crewe are now aiming to bounce back against Scunthorpe this weekend and Ray believes that we have enough quality to continue to grind out the results we will need to be safe.

The former Wales Under-21 International told crewealex.net: “They are all tough games in this league and that is why we want to be in this league, testing ourselves against some big clubs.

“We still believe that we can go into any game in this league and get a result. We have shown that at times against the likes of Bristol City and Swindon on Saturday, but we just can’t seem to find that real level of consistency. It is that type of league and you have to work hard in every game to get a result.

“The spirit is still good and we have the confidence and quality in the squad to make sure we continue to pick up points.

“We have worked hard to get out of the bottom four and our form since Christmas has been decent but we cannot let that work slip. We have to keep achieving results and get away from the bottom four and into mid-table. That’s the aim and we are definitely good enough to keep grinding out results.”
