Club hoping defender hasn't broken a rib
George Ray, 21, missed Saturday’s 2-0 win over Scunthorpe United due to a rib injury. The Crewe central defender was kneed in the ribcage against Rochdale on the previous Tuesday evening and although he attempted to train at the end of the week, the Warrington-based defender was finding it difficult to breathe after running.
Ray will be sent for a scan with the club hoping that he has not fractured one or more of his ribs.
Jon Guthrie returned to the Crewe starting line-up alongside Captain Harry Davis and with the returning Alan Tate operating as a back three.
