Midfielder says going to top two as vast underdogs will only help us
Alex midfielder Jamie Ness says Crewe can go into this weekend’s clash at Preston North End and then a mid-week fixture at Bristol City with renewed confidence. The Alex collected three valuable points against Scunthorpe United last weekend and the on-loan Stoke City midfielder believes that we have nothing to fear after picking up four points from our previous meeting with the top two in the division.
Jamie Ness’ wonderful strike sealed all three points against Bristol City just before Christmas and the Alex held Preston to a 1-1 draw just eight days later.
Ness, who has been in fine form since Christmas, says that going into the two games as severe underdogs only takes the pressure off us.
The former Glasgow Rangers man told Crewe Alex Player: “Things have been going well generally, we’ve had a few good results and a few bad ones but overall we’re quite pleased with the way things are going. We just need to pick up a few good wins and hopefully things should kick-on again.
“We could go and get points in our next three or four games no matter who we’re playing, we’re quite capable of that. We’ve beaten Bristol City already this season and we’ve drawn with Preston so we know we’re capable of getting results - it’s just a matter of doing it on the pitch.
Jamie added: “Every game is important between now and the end of the season. We’ve only got 11 games left and we want to pick up the wins as early as possible so we can start looking up the table and not get dragged back into things.”
