Harry: "Home Form Continues To Be Key"

19 March 2015

Harry Davis says Crewe's impressive home form has to continue after disappointment on travels

Alex captain Harry Davis appreciates that our League One fate remains firmly in our own hands and he wants it to stay that way with just nine games remaining. Successive away defeats at Preston and Bristol City has seen the teams below us in the table gain ground on us in the last week. It certainly looks as though it is going to be tight but the Crewe defenders says that if we can continue our good form at home then we avoid the drop.

The Railwaymen have impressively lost just one of the last 10 fixtures at Gresty Road and we showed real resilience following that 5-0 home defeat by the MK Dons by winning our next four and not conceding a goal in the process.

Ahead of this weekend’s important home clash with Oldham, Harry told us: “The home form has been key to us really. We’ve been playing well at home and picking up some good results and I think the key between now and the end of the season will be our home form and anything away is a bonus really. We’ve got to win our home games, and we have been, and also keeping clean sheets as well which is pleasing.

“We’ve also got to be better away from home. We’re conceding too many goals when we go away and we need to be harder to beat. It doesn’t get any easier with the next two we’ve got at Sheffield United and Chesterfield, so we know we’ve got to play better and we’ll be looking to do that.

“Anything from Preston and Bristol City would’ve been a bonus because you look at the league table and they are the two best teams in the league. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to get anything from either game but we’re fully focussed on these next set of important games now.”
