Davis: "Players Have Shown Great Spirit"

9 March 2015

Boss says players have shown that they can bounce back from set-backs

Steve Davis has praised the resilience of his Crewe Alexandra team after they bounced back from a heavy defeat at Rochdale last Tuesday evening to win 2-0 against an in-form Scunthorpe United side. Goals from Greg Leigh and Marcus Haber sealed a very valuable three points for the Railwaymen, moving us seven points clear of the relegation drop zone.

The Crewe boss hailed the three points as massive, with up-and-coming away matches at Preston, Bristol City and Sheffield United in March.

Steve told crewealex.net: “It was a massive three points for us against a side that is close to us in the league. I was delighted with the response of the players. They bounced back from a poor result and performance at Rochdale to win an important game.

They have been playing well. “It shows the spirit and resilience at the club and it was a hard fought win against a tough side. Scunthorpe have been difficult to beat under Mark Robins.

“It was a tough game and an important win with the games we have coming up. They are all tough games and we have some difficult fixtures coming up but we will approach them the same and try and pick up some points.”
