Youngster could push for first team recall with good performance for the Under-21s
If the club’s talented winger Ryan Colclough can get through 90 minutes against Leeds’ Under-21s on Wednesday afternoon, then he could be included in the first-team squad for our home game against Scunthorpe United.
Colclough has completed 45 minutes of an Under-21 fixture against Coventry City and then 65 minutes against Macclesfield Town last Tuesday in the Cheshire Senior Cup, as he continues his return from a long standing injury. The Stoke-on-Trent born forward was ruled out for over 15 months with a hip and hernia problem, but he has trained consistently well and is pushing for a recall.
Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “We will look to play Ryan in another game this week and see if he can get through 90 minutes.
“He has only played half a game and then 65 minutes against Macclesfield. His next step will be to complete a game. If he can do that then we will look at the weekend.
“He has looked good in training. He has done some good things and is getting fitter all the time.”
