Steve says Colclough played 45 minutes at Sheffield as he progresses
Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says the club will remain cautious with winger Ryan Colclough after he played 45 minutes of the club’s Under-21 victory at Bramall Lane. Crewe enjoyed a 3-0 win in Sheffield thanks to goals from Billy Waters, George Cooper (pen) and Callum Saunders.
Colclough was scheduled to play his first 90 minutes, but after suffering a slight back last week with his Achilles that objective was reduced to 45 minutes. He replaced Lauri Dalla Valle, who is fully expected to travel to Preston with the first-team this weekend.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We have been looking to give Ryan 90 minutes but after he suffered a slight setback with his Achilles last week, we thought it would be a little too much.
“It was only a slight set-back and he came through the second half fine. He is in today and is okay. He will train as normal and there will be more games coming up for him to play in.
“We are in no great rush with him because he has been out for a long time. It is a slow progression with him and he just has to keep going.”
