Boss Impressed By Preston Firepower

Steve wary of Preston's attacking intent

Steve Davis says he is wary of Preston North End’s firepower. The Crewe Alexandra boss has always stressed the importance of signing forward players and he admits that this weekend’s opponents have an abundance of talent to choose from.

Simon Grayson’s squad certainly have the ability and goal potential to secure one of the automatic promotion places this season. Despite an injury keeping him out of November/December, Joe Garner has scored 16 goals this season. Aston Villa’s Callum Robinson has scored six goals and he also has the experienced Jermain Beckford, Kevin Davies, Paul Gallagher amongst his squad.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I have also believed that it is important to collect as many forward players as you can. If you can get four or five quality strikers, all capable of scoring goals and making a difference then that always gives you a great chance.

“The trick is then to manage them by rotating them and trying to keep them as happy as possible.

Bristol, MK Dons and Preston have some great forwards.  “The top teams in this division have them in an abundance.

He added: “There is often not enough to go around the league and it is hard to attract them, but if you can get them then they can make a massive difference because they can win you a game out of nothing.”
