Boss Delighted With Ray Signing

Steve says Ray should aim high after extending his stay at Crewe

Steve Davis has told of his delight after George Ray signed a new two-year with the Football Club. Ray, 21, has become the latest Academy graduate to sign a new contract with the club after his team-mate Harry Davis pledged his future in January.

Ray’s early form has already seen him earn International recognition at Under-21 level with Wales.

The Alex boss told the club’s official web-site: “I initially spoke with George a while ago now to say that we would like to reward him for his progress and then the negotiations have been left to the chairman.

“He came in to sign his contract yesterday and I am pleased about it. It is always good when one of our own players commits his future to the club. It shows that he thinks he is in the best place for his development.

“George still has some work to do. He will continue to work on his weakness but he has all the attributes to go on and play higher. He should aim high because he has the quality.

“He is improving and progressing all the time and he has got to keep doing that.”
