Ben: "Crewe Give Youngsters A Chance"

Ben Garratt delighted to secure his future after rapid rise

Ben Garratt may have endured a frustrating last few weeks after he suffered that fracture in his leg, but the 20-year-old goalkeeper says he has been genuinely lifted by signing a fresh deal with the club that will take him through to the summer of 2017.

Garratt has targeted a possible return to first team action before the end of the season after suffering with the first major injury of his career.

The England Youth International told Crewe Alex Player: “As a professional footballer you just want to be rewarded by your performances on the pitch, so I am delighted.

“It is a great feeling to know that the management and everyone at the club has faith in you and believes that you are worth a new contract. I was pleased to sign and I just want to be back playing as soon as I can and help the lads.

“Everyone knows that as a young player at this club you get an opportunity to play first team football and then be rewarded for your performances.

“It has been a frustrating time for me with the injury because it is the first time I’ve experienced a long-term injury in my career.

Ben added: “All I can is take it each day and each week and see how it reacts to certain demands in my rehab and training. It is all fairly positive though and I will push it all I can to play before the end of the season if I can.”
