Away Form Puzzle

Boss working hard to change around our fortunes on the road

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he cannot understand his side’s away form of late.

Crewe Alexandra’s recent home form has seen us lose just one of our last ten games and those tough fixtures included a memorable 1-0 win over tomorrow night’s opponents Bristol City.

In contrast, the Railwaymen have struggled on the road of late, losing the last four on the bounce and conceding 13 goals in the process.

Ahead of a touch assignment at Ashton Gate, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We have lost a few away games this season that we probably didn’t deserve to lose. I thought that we deserved better from the games at Notts County and Scunthorpe.

“We have also won at places such as Colchester and Walsall with really good away performances but overall our away form has not been good enough. It has been very patchy. We have been inconsistent and have found it difficult to follow up one good result with another.

“We don’t tend to do anything too differently away from home. We approach it the same and look to get something from the game. I don’t think we sit back and just take what is coming. We have a go.

“I don’t know why we have struggled to replicate our home form away from home. We have to try and improve our away form and we can only do that by being as hard to beat as we are at home. We need to be more resilient and solid in our shape. “
