Steve Davis says he and his staff are doing extensive work on transfer targets

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis says he and his staff have an extensive list of players that they are currently working through to try and improve our team for the coming season.

Davis says that all managers will be ‘battling it out’ to sign the same sort of players this summer and that our first choice picks do not always materialise because of the competition.

Steve admitted to crewealex.net: “We have compiled a list that we are working through. It can be an A, B, C, D, list for us because every manager in our league is after the same sort of player. We are all battling it out for similar players.

“There a large quantity of players available but we want those with the right character and right attitude. We are doing our homework on them a lot more.

He added: “If you get a good player, with the right attitude then they usually have a choice of a number of clubs. We have to do things a bit differently and offer those players a chance and opportunity to play regularly and then progress in their careers.”
