Boss says he will sit down with young defenders and offer new and improved terms.
Steve Davis says he will sit down with Oliver Turton and Jon Guthrie when they return from their summer break and offer them new and improved terms.
The club have already exercised their option on extending their contracts for another season but the boss wants to supersede that with a new and improved deal because of the progression they have made in the first team.
Turton was one of the club’s most consistent performers in the second half of the season, making 49 appearances in all competitions. His only goal came in the 5-1 defeat at Preston North End in March.
Guthrie has had to alternate between centre-back and left-back during his Crewe career but Steve Davis says he will focus on playing the former Pewsey Vale in the centre. Guthrie ,22, made 30 appearances for the club last season.
Steve Davis told crewealex.net: “We have taken up the year options on Ollie and Jon but I will sit down with them and discuss a new contract with them when they return from their holiday.
“We want them to enjoy their short break and get that rest in and then we will sit down with both of them and discuss a new deal.
“I don’t envisage a problem there and that will take place shortly. “
