Championship club Nottingham Forest may have won the £250,000 Sky Bet Transfer Fund draw for the January transfer window but as they are under a transfer embargo they can only use it towards loan wages or free transfers! Nottingham Forest, Blackburn Rovers and Leeds United are all under a transfer embargo after breaking Financial Fair Play rules
Nottingham Forest scooped the transfer kitty thanks to fan Shaun Lander won £5,000 for himself as well after betting with Sky Bet this season, and Forest can now use the money during the January transfer window.
Lander was randomly selected in the final 10 in a pre-draw last Thursday, from over 70,000 entrants, before being picked out of the pot by Independent Football League Director Richard Bowker CBE at Wembley Stadium.
The event was hosted by Sky Bet Transfer Fund ambassadors Jim White and Natalie Sawyer, who presented Lander with an individual cheque for £5,000. The event was shown live on Sky Sports News and has proved a popular initiative with supporters across the Football League.
The good news is that the Sky Bet Transfer fund is open again with the winner again winning 5k for themselves and £250,000 for their club to spend in the summer.
