Steve Davis says he will have to remain patient to attract the right players

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that the process of signing new players’ remains at the negotiation stage. The Crewe Alexandra boss says he will have to remain patient to try and attract the right players into the club.

The Alex boss has targeted two new midfield players as his number one priority this summer but he is adamant that he wants to bring in the right characters to improve his squad.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We are in the process of talking to players and their agents. There is nothing approaching a conclusion at the moment, but that is to be expected with players still in contract until the end of the month, even if they have been released.

“There are a lot of things to go through but we have had plenty of meetings and those talks will continue with some of our potential targets. The first thing we have to do is get the right characters in and to see if they are interested. Then we have to try and take it to the next stage.

The boss added: “The next stage will be the players making their ultimate decisions, but as a manager you have to patient in these situations because all managers are after the good players who have the right attitude and character that everyone wants.”
