Steve Davis says he will assess the experienced David Fox whilst he trains with us.
Steve Davis says that he has agreed to take a look at free agent David Fox following his departure from Colchester this summer in the hope of being closer to his young family. Fox, 31, rejected an offer from the U’s in the hope of returning to his North West roots and with clubs returning to pre-season around this time, the former Norwich and Blackpool man didn’t want to fall behind in terms of his fitness as he searches for a club closer to his Manchester home.
The Crewe boss explained to the club’s official web-site: “David spent a year with Colchester and he did well but he wants to try and move back up North to be closer to his family.
“He asked if he could come in and train with us because he doesn’t want to fall behind in his fitness. It gives us a chance to have a good look at him as well.
“It is the perfect time to have a look at some players in our own environment and we will give him a few weeks. He is an experienced player, has won promotions with Norwich and would good around the younger players.”
