Steve: "We Want Coco To Develop Here"

16 July 2015

Boss pleased with Colclough's attitude but admits he will have to start planning without him.

Steve Davis has stated that ‘nothing has changed’ when it comes to 20-year-old Ryan Colclough signing a new deal with the club. The Crewe Alexandra boss has gone on record to praise Colclough’s professionalism to his training this summer. He has featured in Crewe’s opening two friendly games against Congleton and Alsager Town and Davis has been pleased with his efforts.

Davis has admitted that he has not thought about a possible replacement yet, as he wants the Stoke-born Colclough to commit his future to the club. Crewe would receive a compensation package if he was to sign for anyone else this summer and a fee for our former Academy graduate could be decided by an FA tribunal.

Steve told crewealex.net: “While we are not putting any deadlines on it, we will need to know what Ryan’s future is with the season only a few weeks away. There comes a time when I will have to plan for the first game of the season.

“I will have to look at my team and with Ryan not in contract then he won’t be involved. We will have to come to a crossroads at some point.

“I haven’t thought about any possible replacements yet because I want Ryan to stay here and develop with us.

The boss added: “We has worked hard this summer and he has got his head down and been fine. I have not questioned his attitude to the work, he has done everything asked of him.”
