Boss prepares for local pre-season fixtures.

Steve Davis says he is looking forward to the club’s local pre-season campaign that commence at Congleton Town this time next week.

The Alex boss will take his squad to the likes of Alsager, Nantwich, Kidsgrove Athletic and Altrincham in readiness for the visit of Port Vale on 8th August.

Crewe won’t be playing any pre-season friendly games at Gresty Road due to work being undertaken on the pitch this summer.

The Crewe boss told crewealex.net: “We enjoy visiting the local clubs and supporting them. We like to meet their coaches, the staff and supporters.

“We know we won’t have the pitch ready before the start of the season. Instead we will look to organise some behind closed doors games against some good opposition.

“With that it will allow us to do what we like. We could play three 30 minutes and take players off and put them back on when we want to.”
