Steve: "I Won't Put A Time Limit On Things"

Boss says he will not be rushed into bringing players in when his top targets are still available

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he won’t be putting a time scale on trying to bring the right players into the Football Club. The Alex boss went on record to say that his nine potential midfield targets remain in place because the market has been relatively slow this summer. Whilst some Football League clubs have conducted some early business, the Alex boss says that most clubs will remain patient to see if they can attract top quality.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I don’t particularly like putting a time scale on things because we want to be right there for the quality players we want. There is no point rushing out and signing players that will be further down our list when our top targets are still available.

“We will wait to conclude the ones we want to do because we are after quality and at the moment, those players and their agents are waiting for the best offers. That happens and you have just got to remain patient. We have made our interest known early and all you can do is wait.

“What we will do and always do, is do our best to get the best ones we can in. If we can pull some of them off then we will we be better off than we were last season, especially in midfield.”

The Alex boss has highlighted two midfielders and a new left-back as his top priorities this summer, with the need to add another goalkeeper now in his thoughts following the mutual release of Scott Shearer last week.
