Fox Raring To Go After Signing

17 July 2015

New midfielder aiming to get as many minutes under his belt as he can.

Crewe Alexandra’s latest summer signing David Fox is looking forward to his first appearance this weekend. The 31-year-old will feature at either Newcastle this evening or Nantwich Town on Sunday after signing a one-year deal earlier this week.

Fox has spent pre-season training with us after he elected to leave our League One rivals Colchester United at the end of last season and now the former Manchester United youngster is ready to play. Fox didn’t feature in the club’s opening two friendly games, as his deal approached a conclusion.

Fox told crewealex.net: “I have not missed any of the pre-season and that is a huge benefit. I have managed to keep myself fit and it has been a tough one at Crewe. It has been hard work, very intense.

“I had been at Crewe for a couple of weeks before I signed and I liked what I saw and thankfully they were pleased with what they saw as well. It was a perfect fit.

“There is only so much training you can do. You need the games. I am just looking forward to being available and play that first game because you can only really judge your fitness levels when you play.

He added: “You may feel strong in training but not so good after the game, so it is nice to know where you are. I will try and get as many games as I can under my belt and push on for the start of the season.”
