Boss says stats show improvement in fitness.
Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he is pleased with the fitness levels of his players and that the statistics are proving that the players are ahead of last season’s testing.
The Crewe Alexandra boss has taken a more hands on approach to fitness this pre-season and although the players have found the double sessions difficult, they are reaping the benefits.
Steve told crewealex.net: “The players are ahead (in their fitness) to where they were last season. Their loading results have improved and I would imagine that a number of them have found it tough going. A few of them have hit the wall with all the work we have asked of them and then the two games but you have to expect that.
“You have to assess them every day and drop them back a bit when you need to. They have had double sessions most days, but they have bought into it and their attitude has been excellent. They have worked exceptionally hard as a group.
“We have structured the pre-season to get the best out of them. It is not set in stone and we will see how they feel."
