Davis Doubt For Vale Opener

23 July 2015

Harry could miss Port Vale after suffering injury at Nantwich

Crewe Alexandra defender Harry Davis is ‘touch & go’ for the season curtain raiser against Port Vale having suffered a medial injury against Nantwich Town on Sunday.

Harry missed the opening to last season with a serious injury picked up in the tail end of 2013/14 and will be pushing to be fit from the start this time around.

Manager Steve Davis hopes to have Harry fit for the opener, with defensive cover currently in short supply.

The gaffer told crewealex.net: “He got his studs caught in the long grass at Nantwich on Sunday and just nipped the medial ligament a little bit. Although he carried on, that suggested that it wasn’t too bad, but the scan revealed a small tear in the ligament.

“It will be two, to four, to six weeks depending on how quickly it settles down. The physios have arranged for him to go to the specialists to try and speed up the process. We’re still hopeful, fingers crossed, that he might have a chance for the Vale game. It will be touch and go.”
