Davis says Shaun Derry is the ideal man to get Notts County back on track but he hopes it isn't Saturday!
Shaun Derry’s Notts County side may not have won a League One fixture in their last nine games, but Steve Davis is more than aware of the danger they can pose. The Magpies won five straight matches in October and previously won 3-0 here at Gresty Road during that month.
Due to their superb start to the season, Derry’s side remain in mid-table and are still only five points off the top six. Davis and his players are well aware of the threat Notts County pose and Crewe last won at Meadow Lane way back in March 1997 when Mark Rivers scored the only goal of the game.
Steve told crewealex.net: “Notts County have hit a period of some indifferent form but that can happen in this league. We didn’t win any of our opening five league games and only won one of our opening 11 games.
“Shaun is experienced enough to turn things around again. They will be determined to recover their recent situation, they are at home and above us in the league, so they will be looking at this weekend as a chance to do that.
“They will be in front of their own fans and in a way that can bring its own type of pressure when things are not going as well as you would like, but Notts County have a good group of players and they will be working hard to turn things around.
The Alex boss added: “We are in decent form and want that to continue. We want to try and go unbeaten for as long as we can and the players are full of confidence and cannot wait for the game.”
