Morris Thrilled With ‘Stunning’ Cup Win

15 January 2015

U18’s Gaffer praises staff & players after Cup mauling

Alex Morris paid homage to an array of Crewe Alexandra staff, and his players, after his U18’s made it into the last 16 of the FA Youth Cup after demolished Category One side Bolton Wanderers 5-0.

The Alex join the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Newcastle and Arsenal in the Fifth Round – and it is the Gunners, or Royston Town, who Morris’ boys will travel to for their next test.

Speaking of the five star Bolton performance, Morris said: “There are loads of superlatives you could throw at them, but the one I used was ‘stunning.’

“It was a stunning performance from start to finish. They controlled the game brilliantly and regardless of whether they went down to ten men or not, I think the score-line would’ve been the same anyway because we were playing really well and dominating the game.

“I’m sure the supporters were delighted. There’s a lot of staff also who have put a lot of hard work in behind the scenes, working with these boys since they were eight years old. To see the boys put in a performance like that was very satisfying.”
