Steve Davis pleased that defender has signed a new and improved deal

Steve Davis left the key negotiations over Harry Davis’s new contract to chairman John Bowler and the club’s board of directors. The current club captain has signed a new two and half deal with the club to take him through to the summer of 2017 and boss Steve Davis is delighted that one of his key defenders has become the first to commit his future to the club.

The Alex boss is hoping to speak to other members of his young squad after extending their stays with the Football Club and reward those who have broken through into the first-team picture over the past 12 months.

With a young family to provide for, Davis, 23, did not hesitate to sign a new and improved deal with the club after successfully coming through the Academy ranks at the ranks.

Steve Davis told crewealex.net: “I am pleased that Harry has signed and committed his future to the club. I kept out of it and left this one up to John and the board. I thought that was the best way.

“The only advice I gave him was to consider his young family. He is getting married in the summer and has a young child so he needs that stability in his life.

“His agent was talking about a one year deal but Harry wanted longer. He wanted that security at this stage of his life and his career. He is settled and wanted his future resolved for the next couple of seasons.

“Since coming back from his injury, Harry has looked stronger and has been consistently good in the games. We are not teaching him too much now, it is more about improving the things he does.”
