Boss delighted for Alex fans after historic derby win.
Steve Davis was delighted to pick up another three away points at Vale Park on Saturday to again move the Alex out of the bottom four.
The Crewe boss had said all week that the objective was the three points in our quest to escape relegation but he knew what it meant for the supporters after an historic victory at the home of our local rivals. Our 1-0 win thanks to Nicky Ajose’s finish on 39 minutes was the first time Crewe had completed a League double over Port Vale.
Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “It was a fantastic day for the supporters and the players and everyone at the club knows what it means to them.
“They made a lot of noise behind that goal and kept us going when we needed them. Our away following has always been excellent with the ones who sing at home, going away and getting behind us.
“It made for an excellent atmosphere and I was delighted for them at the end.”
