Alex manager pleased with mini-run but keeping his feet firmly on the floor
Crewe Alexandra's fine form over the last four games has given the club a fighting chance of avoiding relegation at the end of the season, but manager Steve Davis is certainly not getting carried away after his side extended their unbeaten run to four games with a hard fought 3-1 win over Gillingham at the weekend.
Davis is pleased that a return of 10 points from a possible 12 has elevated his side out of the bottom four but he appreciates there is a lot of hard work still to be done over the next four months.
The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “We have had a great four weeks and we have enjoyed it. There is no better feeling than to be winning football matches and that is testimony to a lot of hard work done by a lot of people.
“We have improved our performances and that has resulted in us picking up points, which doesn’t always happen. We played really well at Scunthorpe but got nothing from the game.
“The results have taken us out of the bottom four and up the league a bit. It was created a better feeling and the players cannot wait for the next game to come around.
Davis added: “The spirit is good, it always has been and the belief is there. We have shown that we are good enough to turn things around but it is a long season and there is still plenty to do.”
