Crewe Alex agree deal for Swans defender

Crewe Alexandra have signed defender Alan Tate on loan from Swansea City until the end of the 2014/15 season.

The 32-year-old originally joined in September on an emergency 93-day-loan, with the deal expiring on Christmas Eve leaving him unavailable for the fixtures with Oldham and Preston over the festive period.

Tate made seven appearances in his loan spell, with the Club winning four of those matches and keeping three clean sheets in the process.

Steve Davis has gone on record saying how much of a positive influence Tate's experience has had around the place, and the County Durham born man is now tied to the Alex for the next six months.

Crewe Alexandra are also hopeful of closing off a deal to sign Greg Leigh on loan until the end of the season from Manchester City. The youngster is set to put pen-to-paper tomorrow morning.
