Alex boss has moved quickly to sign trio of defenders
Steve Davis is understandably delighted that he has been able to secure three signings in 24 hours. The Alex boss has re-signed Alan Tate and Greg Leigh on loan and completed the permanent signing of Anthony Stewart from Wycombe Wanderers following his impressive loan spell. The three defenders will only continue to offer competition and cover for the back places in the Crewe squad.
Davis is now focussed on extending loan deals for midfielder Jamie Ness from Stoke City and Nicky Ajose from Leeds United.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We have been able to make a lot of progress in a short space of time in regards to the players.
“Swansea and Manchester City made it a really smooth transition when dealing with Alan and Greg and we have been able to come to an agreement with Wycombe in regards to Anthony.
“Talks over Jamie and Nicky are on-going. They wish to stay so that is a real positive and our aim is to bring them back here on loan. All we can be is patient and wait and see what happens with them.
“Having to be patient is part of the process and hopefully we will see the results by sticking with it.
The boss added: “I’ve got good vibes about them and getting those deals in place, hopefully before the weekend.”
