French defender leaves by mutual consent

Crewe Alexandra can announce that defender Thierry Audel has departed the club by mutual consent. The 28-year-old Frenchman has had his contract cancelled with six months to run after finding it difficult to establish himself in Steve Davis’ first team plans.

Audel joined the club from Macclesfield Town in the summer of 2013 but his first team appearances have been limited to three starts and two substitute appearances during his time at Gresty Road.

His last appearance for the club came in the 6-1 defeat at MK Dons back in September and the following month he was loaned out to Lincoln City. Audel made four appearances for the Imps but hasn’t featured since 8th November ina 2-1 defeat at Eastleigh.
