A Game To Really Look Forward To

30 January 2015

Boss confident his side will give high-flying MK Dons more of a game than our previous meeting

Steve Davis is confident that his Crewe Alexandra side will give Karl Robinson’s MK Dons side more of a game in tomorrow’s return fixture. The MK Dons inflicted our heaviest defeat of the season back in September when the impressive Dele Alli hit a hat-trick in an emphatic 6-1 win. The Alex were never really in the contest at stadium:MK although we actually drew level at 1-1 thanks to an own goal.

Davis has completed revamped his side since that defeat in September and only four players who started in Milton Keynes, started last weekend’s local derby against Port Vale.

Ahead of this weekend’s fixture at the Alexandra Stadium, Steve told us: “We are a different group from back in September. We have changed considerably since then and I’m sure Karl will be wary of that.

“Our mind-set is stronger and we have been playing a lot better. We are one of the in-form sides in the division. So are the MK Dons, so it is a game we are looking forward to.

“We are playing reasonably well and we are in a better frame of mind now. We are a lot more confident and our home record against the MK Dons has been good.

He added: “MK Dons are a better side than they were last season. Karl has bought some more good players in. They play attractive football, an expansive way of playing and we are looking forward to it.”
