We Are Playing With Confidence

Steve Davis says his Alex team will go to Doncaster aiming for a hat-trick of away wins

Steve Davis is anticipating another tough away assignment at Doncaster Rovers this evening but Crewe Alexandra travel to the Keepmoat in a rich vein of form having won our last two away games and a further two at home against Yeovil and Fleetwood Town. Doncaster Rover have won their last two matches 3-0 and 5-0 and all without our former loanee striker Uche Ikpeazu, who has been struggling with a hamstring problem.

November 2012. thThe Alex won 2-0 on our last visit to the impressive Keepmoat Stadium with goals from debutant Lauri Dalla Valle and Mathias Pogba sealing a memorable night on 6

Ahead of this evening’s game, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “There is still a long way to go and we still have a lot of work to do to take us away from the bottom places and into the relative safety of mid-table. Everyone has worked hard to get ourselves out of it but it is just as hard to sustain that form and stay out of it.

“The league is very tight and Doncaster will be looking to see if they can break into that top six. They are in decent form but then so we are.

“It is a good stadium to play at and we won on our last visit, when we were not expected to, so we can catch them out again then a repeat of that result and performance would be perfect.

“I remember that Lauri scored very early into his debut and the Pogs headed in at the far post to make it 2-0.

He added “We are looking forward to it. The results we have been getting has added to the confidence and we have won our last two away games. We know that it will be tough at Doncaster but we can play well then we could surprise a few. We want that winning mentality to continue as much as we can.”
