Turton: "Just Pleased To Be Back Playing"

12 February 2015

Ollie Turton says he doesn't mind where he plays as long as he is in the Alex team

Crewe Alexandra youngster Oliver Turton says he just had to keep his head down and work harder to try and get back into Steve Davis’s plans. Turton lost his midfield role to James Jones since the turn of the year but he 22-year-old has worked hard to force his way back in at right-back. Things can change very quickly in football and Turton is just happy to be back playing again, regardless of position.

“It’s been good for me recently because I’m back the in team now, but more importantly we’ve got two wins now and hopefully we can carry that on. Following a Man-of-the-Match performance in the deserved 1-0 win over Yeovil on Tuesday night, Turton told Crewe Alex Player:

“We needed to get those two wins against two teams who were around us as well. We should’ve even won by more against Yeovil, we’re showing our quality now and hopefully we can carry it on.

“We’re buzzing at the minute, you don’t want to be going home losing. It’s a mentality we go into every game with now that we can go and win.

An honest Turton added: “I had no qualms about being dropped out of the team because I hadn’t been playing very well. I was out of the team but I didn’t complain about it, I just got on with it and worked hard to try and get back into the team.

“To be fair to Jonah he’s done really well so I couldn’t complain. I just got my head down, kept on working really hard hoping to get back in and now he’s put me back in. I’ve said it before, I don’t mind what position I play I just want to be on the pitch and playing well.”
