Swindon Will Be There Or Thereabouts

27 February 2015

Steve Davis has been impressed with Mark Cooper's Town side this season

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that Swindon Town have continued to play well despite a recent blip. Mark Cooper’s promotion chasing side ended a three-match losing streak by defeating Bradford 2-1 on Tuesday evening and Davis expects another tough encounter against a team currently chasing the top two in the division.

Swindon defeated a very different looking Crewe 2-0 earlier in the season and Davis is hoping that his side can raise their performance again to upset one of the fancied sides for promotion. Crewe have already beaten Bristol City 1-0 and held Preston North End to a 1-1 draw at Gresty Road this season.

Ahead of this weekend’s fixture at the Alexandra Stadium: “Swindon bounced back with a good result against Bradford City on Tuesdsay night. It is never easy against Bradford, so they did well to get a result after going three without a win.

“It is not as though they have not been playing well in those three games. They have still created chances and just not taken them. They have made one or two mistakes that have contributed to that little blip but they will come back from that because they are a good side.

He added: “Mark has a good squad of players and they always try to play the right way. They enjoy keeping possession and they are all comfortable in possession. They have been fairly consistent all season, apart from this recent little run but I’m sure they are more than capable of finishing in the top three and they have a good chance of finishing in the top two.”
