Alex boss says his squad are ready to put things right

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he has seen the reaction he would have wanted after Saturday’s 5-0 defeat at the hands of MK Dons. The Alex boss was hugely disappointed with the manner in which we conceded those goals at the weekend but he says the players have picked up themselves collectively in training.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to Colchester, Steve told crewealex.net: “The players were disappointed with the way things went on Saturday. I don’t think it was a 5-0 game but we certainly underperformed as a team.

“We didn’t play well and we have been defending better than that. There was an expectation on us after what we had achieved against Bristol City but we had too many players playing under par.

“What I have seen since has been encouraging. They have been lively and sharp in the sessions and have all worked hard. That is the reaction I would expect from this group and I think we have ability to bounce back. I think we have shown that in the past.

“The lads looked fine and we will have a rest today and then train again on Thursday in readiness for Colchester this weekend.”
