Ray Hoping To Bounce Back Against Swindon

26 February 2015

Defender believes Crewe can raise their game to beat another of the promotion hopefuls

Alex defender George Ray is hoping the club can get back to winning ways by springing another surprise against promotion chasing Swindon Town this weekend. Crewe Alexandra slipped to their second successive away defeat with a disappointing show at Barnsley last week but Ray is convinced that if the team can play anywhere near the level we have been doing recently, then there is no reason why we cannot get something from Mark Cooper’s passing side.

Ray is hoping that the mid-week break will allow for a more up tempo performance at Gresty Road.

Ahead of this weekend’s clash, Ray told the club’s official web-site: ”In some way we are thankful that there was no midweek game and most of the lads who have been playing have managed to get a rest.

“I think we needed it. But it’s Swindon now and we’re focussed and raring to go for that.

“Swindon are a great side, a good footballing team. We didn’t do well enough at their place either, but as you can see in this league, anyone can beat anyone.

George added: “Results can go either way. The MK Dons did a number on us, but we were great against Bristol to get the win. On our pitch maybe Swindon won’t be able to play the football they want to, but I really think we can get a result.”
