Players Cannot Wait For The Games

16 February 2015

Steve Davis says his side are brimming with confidence but work still needs to be done

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that his confident Crewe side cannot wait for the next game to come along. Crewe Alexandra's 2-0 win over Fleetwood Town at the weekend was their third success on the bounce and we go into Tuesday’s clash at Doncaster as one of the in-form sides in the division.

Steve Davis has been understandably delighted with his side’s form in the second half of the season but he is not getting carried away and knows that there is a lot of work to be done yet.

The Crewe boss told crewealex.net: “We cannot wait for the game to come around and the players just want to keep playing. There have been a few tired bodies today and one or two of them have knocks so we have had a lighter day, so they are ready to go again.

“With the amount of games we have this month, I think it is 12 altogether you if include the Youth Cup and the Cheshire Senior Cup coming up as well, we have to be a bit careful with them. We have to get their minds and body right because it will be demanding for our squad.

“Having an Under-21 game on a Monday can be unhelpful because some of the players who play today will have to be involved in the squad tomorrow. That is the way it is and we just have to get on with it.

“It is not ideal because we have a lot of fixtures to fulfil and we have had to juggle the teams around a bit this week.”
