Finnish striker withdrawn after suffering hip injury just minutes after replacing Ajose
Lauri Dalla Valle was withdrawn just ten minutes after replacing Nicky Ajose in last night’s 2-1 defeat by Doncaster after receiving a hefty knock on his hip. The Finnish striker replaced Ajose and was swiftly on the receiving end of a physical but fair challenge by Rovers defender Andy Butler.
After receiving a period of treatment, the forward was allowed to continue but he went down again a few minutes later and boss Steve Davis took no risks by instantly withdrawing him in favour of young George Cooper.
Dalla Valle, 23, has endured a stop/start beginning to his second spell with the club. Having signed as a free agent in early December, the former Fulham and Liverpool man has started two matches and come on as substitute on five other occasions. He is yet to get off the mark.
