Haber Focussed On Keeping His Place

19 February 2015

Marcus Haber determined to continue being club's target man

Marcus Haber is hoping that he will continue to be presented with the opportunity to prove that he can replace the void left when Uche Ikpeazu left on loan to Doncaster Rovers. Haber has impressed with a goal against Fleetwood in a 2-0 win at Gresty Road and he also turned provider for Nicky Ajose’s winning goal against Yeovil.

The new pairing have developed a decent understanding of late and Haber is hoping that his form will mean that manager Steve Davis will not look to reinforce his attacking options with another target man forward.

The club’s Canadian forward told the club’s official web-site: “Everyone is still confident. We have to keep going. We have a system that is working for us and we have looked reasonably solid. The back five have been excellent for us.

“We have a number of players who can play in certain positions though as well and that has made us flexible and capable of switching formation in the games. The manager has faith in the whole squad and we are a different team from the beginning of the season.

“Collectively we have improved and we have to keep picking up points.

“On a personal level I’m just happy to be back in the team and playing. When you are out of the team you have to remain patient, work hard out of the training ground and wait for that opportunity. I think I’ve done that and I feel fit and ready.

“It was nice to score a goal against Fleetwood, but as long as the team is winning games and picking up points, it doesn’t matter who is scoring the goals too much. It is a collective thing and we are looking forward.”
