Garratt Injury To Be Assessed

23 February 2015

Ben came off against Barnsley with a shin problem

Crewe Alexandra will assess the injury picked up by goalkeeper Ben Garratt in the defeat at Barnsley.

The 20-year-old was forced off during the second-half with a shin problem and was replaced by debutant goalkeeper Paul Rachubka after he signed just 24 hours ahead of the match.

Garratt has been a mainstay of the side since the early weeks of the season and will be hoping to be fit enough to feature against Swindon Town on Saturday.

Boss Steve Davis said: “He went to come out and he felt something on the outside of his shin, which is where he’s been getting a bit of pain but we think it’s been more muscular and bruising than anything else.

“He couldn’t put his weight on it so we’re getting him checked out. I don’t know the extent of it. It wasn’t a challenge, nobody  was around him. Fortunately we had Paul [Rachubka] to come in.”
