Steve Davis says Crewe starlets are capable of getting through against Arsenal
First team manager Steve Davis has expressed his admiration for this season’s Youth team as they prepare for their 5th Round tie against Arsenal tonight. The youngsters are playing for an intriguing quarter-final showdown with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Alex Morris takes his Under-18 side to Boreham Wood this evening to face the Gunners in our re-arranged Youth Cup fixture and Davis will be once again casting his eye over the potential of some of our rising starlets.
Ahead of tonight’s 7pm kick-off, Steve told crewealex.net: “The original match was postponed due to the pitch being frozen in areas, so I know that Alex, Kenny and the boys have been eagerly waiting for it to come round.
“It is something that they have been looking forward to and they will be well prepared. Alex will have them well drill and will have worked on taking on players of that calibre. Getting through is not beyond them and if they can play as well as they have in the previous rounds then it will be a good spectacle.
“I have been impressed with them. They are all comfortable on the ball and there is a good balance to them. As a team they have been doing well, as individuals there’s always a few that stand out. I’ve been very impressed with them.”
