Steve expects Karl Robinson's side to go out of League One at the end of the season

Steve Davis fully believes that Karl Robinson’s clinical MK Dons side have all the credentials to go on and win promotion to the Skybet Championship. Crewe were beaten 5-0 by the Dons at the weekend and were heavily beaten 6-1 at the stadium:mk earlier in the campaign. Crewe will be glad that they are not facing the Dons again this season after what Robinson described afterwards as an ‘indication of our intent.”

The 5-0 win at Gresty Road briefly placed the MK Dons at the top of the league before Bristol City again leaped frogged over them following a 2-0 win over Fleetwood yesterday.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We tried to set up to frustrate them and get close to them but at times we couldn’t. At times we were chasing shadows and they were clinical with their finishing.

“We need to defend better than we did. With three centre-halves they shouldn’t be getting through the middle of us like they did on occasions. We can do better than that.

“We were a bit more adventurous in the second half when putting George (Cooper) on. We tried to have a go without having enough penetration in the final third. We played some good football at times but couldn’t break through.

“MK Dons proved why they are one of the best sides in the division. They are a good team with good quality throughout. The game faded away from us and being 3-0 down at half-time to a side like that is difficult to turn around.

“They were impressive and I expect them to go out of this league.”
