Steve says Oakwell trip the perfect opportunity to get back on track

minute of the game when midfielder Richie Wellens struck an unstoppable winner from 25 yards.thSteve Davis says that Saturday’s trip to Oakwell will be the perfect opportunity for his Crewe Alexandra side to bounce back from Tuesday night’s last minute defeat at Doncaster. The Alex had to cope with enormous second half pressure and they held out at 1-1 until the 90

Davis was disappointed that his side couldn’t quite see it through to the end and hold on for a valuable point at the Keepmoat Stadium but he says that his side have shown a great resilience to bounce back from a set-back during the last few months and he is looking for more of the same this weekend.

Steve told crewealex.net: “As a manager you cannot get too carried away with things and that works both ways. You don’t get carried away when you are winning games and on a good run and you cannot get too down when you suffer a defeat.

“The mind-set of the players has been good and when we have suffered those set-backs or a heavy defeat like we did against the MK Dons, they have responded and gone on with it. We have quickly moved forward and don’t get too down.

“We were disappointed to lose the game on Tuesday in the last minute because the players had put a lot of effort in to try and hold out for a point, but we cannot get too down about it.

He added: “We are looking forward to going to Barnsley on Saturday and how we play and bounce back will be important.”
