Untimely injury in warm-up ruled out Atkinson with medial ligament injury
Crewe Alexandra midfielder Chris Atkinson missed Saturday’s home game against MK Dons after suffering a knee injury in the warm-up. The match official allowed Atkinson to be replaced by Liam Nolan on the team-sheet. Atkinson tweaked his knee ahead of kick-off and was immediately not risked.
It is hoped that the former Huddersfield Town man won’t be out for too long, but he is out of Saturday’s trip to Colchester.
Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Chris got injured in the warm up on Saturday and that is why he was replaced on the bench by Liam Nolan.
“He tweaked his medial ligament in his knee but we are hopeful that it is not too long. He is okay and we don’t think he will out too long.”
The Alex boss has also revealed that defender Jon Guthrie could resume training next week after he jarred his knee against Notts County when he was caught out for the penalty. Guthrie could return for the visit of Fleetwood Town on 14th February if he can proved his fitness.
