Steve says Ajose's goals make him an automatic choice
Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that the strikers within his squad are fighting to partner the in-form Nicky Ajose up front. Ajose has hit seven goals during his loan spell from Leeds United and Davis has praise his perseverance as a goal scorer.
Ajose put Crewe in front at Colchester on Saturday, collecting a superb pass from Anthony Grant to slot home past Sam Walker with real confidence. Crewe went on win 3-2.
The Crewe boss told us: “That is why we bought Nicky here because we knew he was a goalscorer. Even though he sometimes doesn’t contribute in the games as much as he would like he has that ability to create and score a goal.
“He is always on the move and his movement is very good. He keeps getting into the positions and hopes the midfielders can find him or something drops for him. He always keeps himself going.
“His goals to game ratio has been good since he came here and everyone else is playing to play up there with him because he is scoring goals. His goals make him an automatic choice at the moment.
“The rest of them have to fight it out between themselves. It is up to them and if they can score goals then they will he the regular partnership.”
