Steve: "We Will Continue To Improve"

16 December 2015

Steve Davis looking forward to second half of the season with his improved side.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says that after playing most teams in League One now that his team have nothing to fear during the second half of the season. Davis believes that the standard in League One this season is a lot tighter and he is targeting a positive return of points over the busy festive period.

December. We conclude a busy spell with another home game against Coventry City, who Davis and his players believe are one of the best side’s we have faced this season. The Sky Blues won 3-2 back in August but Davis feels his side has improved since then.thCrewe kick off their Christmas campaign against Fleetwood Town this weekend before facing Rochdale on Boxing Day and then Shrewsbury Town back at Gresty Road on Monday 28

Ahead of the festive period, Steve told us: “All we are doing is looking forward to the next game against Fleetwood. We know we have a lot of a games coming up in a short space of time but we are focussed on the next game.

“We play a few teams that in and around us in the table and that gives us a great incentive to great some points and drag them back into it. It is important that we pick up points against the teams that are around us, like we have done recently against Colchester and Oldham.

“We have also shown that we can compete against the teams that up there as well. We got a terrific win over Sheffield United and picked up points away at Burton and Walsall, so they know that on their day, when they play to their strengths and potential that they can beat anybody in this league.

“We have played virtually everyone now and other than a couple of performances, most notably Peterborough, we have been in every game.

He added: “The players will know that they are not that far away and are capable of going on a mini-run, so we just have to keep going and see how many points we can generate as we go into the New Year.”
