Steve: "The Lads Have Been Flying"

8 December 2015

Boss says back-to-back wins has restored some real confidence in the camp.

Steve Davis says his Crewe Alexandra players are looking forward to getting back out on the football pitch again after their non-involvement over FA Cup weekend. Crewe have been able to build some momentum in League One with back-to-back wins over fellow strugglers Colchester and Oldham and the influx of two new loan signings, Ryan Lowe and Semi Ajayi, has also provided a boost at an important time.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to Doncaster, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The lads have been flying and have really enjoyed the training. We have been focussing on ourselves for the past week or so and we will have a look at Doncaster and what they do towards the end of the week.

“We will concentrate on the opposition a bit more then but we have signed two new players recently and it has been good to be out there and doing some work with them. It has been an important time to integrate them into the set-up and give some of our players a bit of a rest.

“The win over Oldham was important for us. It was a home win in front of our fans, we managed to restrict their chances to a real minimum and we achieved back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

“It was important that after coming back at Colchester that we didn’t lose the Oldham game. It would have been a long two weeks if we had.

The boss added: “It has improved our league position and we have been able to build a bit of momentum. There is a good feeling around the place and everyone is looking forward to pushing on and do well for the club.”
