Players Looking Forward To Christmas Challenge

7 December 2015

Steve Davis says his players cannot wait to get back into action after morale boosting back-to-back wins

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says his confident players cannot wait to get back into action at Doncaster Rovers this weekend. The Railwaymen did not have a fixture at the weekend due to our disappointing exit to non-league Eastleigh in the FA Cup.

Crewe travel to the impressive Keepmoat Stadium this weekend after back-to-back wins over Colchester and Oldham and Davis says the squad is determined to make the busy Christmas and New Year period count like last season.

Crewe won three out of five games over the festive period, including a superb 1-0 win over eventual champions Bristol City at Gresty Road.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Christmas is always a busy period but it is one we are looking forward to. We have some good fixtures coming up and if we can get some more wins like we did last season then that would certainly help our league position.

“We did that last year when we got back-to-back wins over Bristol City and Oldham and then defeated Gillingham at home, so if we could emulate that type of form then that would give us a great chance of getting out of the bottom four and up the table.

“That’s the target because we have enjoyed back-to-back wins now for the first time and we want to keep that mini-run going at Doncaster.

He added: “The players cannot wait for the games again. It is always a testing time for everyone with so many games in a short space of time, but it can also help transform your league position because it is all very tight.”
